Meet sweet Bodhi! He was welcomed last September into a beautiful home full of wonderful parents and loving fur-siblings (and guitars!). His parents, Jordan and Janina, were incredibly welcoming and kind, and we had a a great morning, shared some laughs and captured some beautiful moments of their first days with their baby boy. Janina, and I even discovered that we had attended the nursing program at U of T just a year apart, and likely had crossed paths before without realizing it! It's was such a pleasure to capture the joy and love that exists within the little family and I am excited to share these beautiful moments with you :) Enjoy!
Say hello to the sweetest baby boy, Harrison! What a dream this little guy was to photograph! I have never had a baby pose his hands so sweetly, and give me so many adorable portraits! All that hand clasping made me so happy. New mom and dad, Alison and Tom were so in love with their charming little boy and weren't afraid to give him all the snuggles and kisses he desired :) I absolutely loved capturing their first days as a family of 3 and am thankful that they trusted me to document it for them. It's the very best job I tell ya!
What do you get when you mix a 2 year old, almost 1 year old and 2 week old, amazing parents and beautiful home together in a lifestyle session? A suuuuuper long blog post full of fun, candid and snuggly images! Big brother Charlie was without a doubt the sweetest and most gentle big brother I've ever met, covering his new baby sister, Reese, in so many kisses! Middle girlie, Quinn, was a bundle of energy, movement and adorable smiles. This little girl was a super early walker and had the speed to prove it! She was so fun, but started to fade as nap time approached, and graced me with some sleepy cuddles and even let me put her down for her nap! And finally, the star of the show, baby girl Reese. She was just beautiful and slept so sweetly for us. She even gave me a smile as she napped in her mama's arms. These gorgeous children all belong to the wonderful Danielle and Stu, two super-parents who managed their 3 under 3 with a competence and grace that I can only aspire to! This family was such a joy to capture and I am honoured to have had the opportunity to capture their story.
Every once in a while I get super lucky during a newborn session and get a perfectly behaved little angel who sleeps so soundly that I can move them and reposition them any number of ways without them even batting an eye. Sweet little Eric was one of these babies. It probably helped that is was a super hot September day and the house was nice and toasty, but this baby boy slept like a dream and made my photographer's heart so happy! I loved reconnecting with his parents, Jenny and Ryan, and big brother Justin. We captured their maternity session back in July, and I had been so looking forward to meeting their newest love! What a treasure these first days with baby are, and what a joy it is to witness.
Ashley and Giancarlo welcomed their beautiful baby boy, Matteo, into the world this past September. A couple weeks later I had the honour of meeting and capturing this beautiful little family of 3 in their early days together. The days after Matteo's birth were a little stressful as he was in and out of the hospital with jaundice, so it was beautiful to see them all settling in together as they figure out the rhythm of regular life with a new baby at home.
Matteo was such a sweetie, which I think you can tell from his angelic little face! He slept so well and we got so many sweet and snuggly shots with him and each of his parents. I just loved capturing these early days for Ashley and Giancarlo to look back on. My hope is for Matteo to look at these photos when he is older and see how much his mom and dad loved him from the start.
Say hello to sweet Abigail! I first met her parents, Andrea and Joe, at their maternity session back in May, and was excited to find out whether they were having a boy or girl! I have great admiration for those crazy people who have enough patience to wait until baby is born to find these things out ;) It does add an extra fun element of anticipation though, I think! Abigail was sweet as can be and really pulled of some serious modelling throughout the course of our session. I had a wonderful morning with these three, and loved capturing this exciting piece of their family history for them!
Audrey's newborn session was full of some of the sweetest cuddles I've had the pleasure of capturing. This baby girl was a huge fan of snuggling against mom and dad's chest. And while she was not big on being put down, her parents did an wonderful job comforting their sweet daughter and eventually had her lulled off to sleep! I'm always impressed with how new parents to take these things in stride and how quickly they learn the little tricks that work well for their baby. I love capturing the new-ness of the family dynamic with a tiny newborn in the household. I've said it before and I'll say it again...I love my job!
Meet Keiran. He has the BEST baby lips I've ever seen (scroll down a couple for their closeup). This handsome baby boy was such a treat the photograph. He even let us get some nudie pictures to match with one his older sister had done at her newborn session on a chair in the living room. Between that and the way he posed his sweet hands I am still completely smitten over this little man. Having this level of charm with be helpful to Keiran so he can keep up with his charming older sister Lily. She was one of the friendliest kids I've worked with and I loved capturing her fun personality! I think it's safe to say their parents Penny and Phillip have their hands and hearts full in the best possible way. Wishing so many blessings for this beautiful family!
Baby Jakob. This little man is one of the most handsome babies I have ever had the pleasure of photographing! With an incredible head of wavy, dark hair, his long eyelashes, big eyes and perfect little lips, he was a joy to photograph! Despite some tears and extra feeds throughout our session, Jakob gave us some beautiful sleeping and bright-eyed awake photos, and even let me get some close ups of those amazing lashes. I had so much fun reconnecting with Reshma and Irfan (you can see their maternity session here) and watching them love on their sweet baby boy. We did Jakob's session when he was 4 weeks old, and I loved seeing how they've settled into the rhythms of parenthood and the craziness that is life with a baby. It was such an honour to capture the love between this brand new family of 3.
The first day we attempted to do little Greyson's newborn session the clouds rolled in SO heavily right when I arrived that we ended up not being able to shoot (it pretty much looked like nighttime!). Luckily Amanda and Dan were so gracious and we were able to reschedule for the next day, which ended up being gorgeous and sunny and exactly what we wanted! I had so much fun getting to know Amanda and Dan. They are both teachers with a love of art and music. They are laid back and fun and I had such a wonderful time hanging out with them. Amanda did a beautiful job planning out Greyson's nursery, complete with some beautiful art pieces made by his own mama (go check out @amandasimmonsart on Instagram)! Greyson was the sweetest thing and I am officially obsessed with redhead babies. They are simply adorable! It was such an honour to capture these moments for this beautiful family.
Oh miss Harper. She was the easiest baby I have every photographed! I could move her as much as I wished between poses and she was happy as a clam and would settle right back to sleep. Unfortunately for her parents this was because she was exhausted from being up most of the night! Big brother Preston was incredibly sweet and introduced me to every character from the movie Cars. He also has an amazing pirate ship bed which I can only imagine is the envy of all of his friends! This session was so fun and laid back and I loved every moment. Denise and Albert, thank you so much for trusting me to capture your beautiful baby girl and the love and joy she has added to your family.
If you are a fan of baby hair swirls, you are going to love Charlie. This sweet man gave me a run for my money for the first half of our session, there were lots of tears, but we worked around it and eventually got him to sleep, and then he pulled out all the stops with his perfect little poses. You may remember his parents, Jill & Jaimie from their maternity session in High Park. It was so fun to get to know them prior to Charlie's arrival and now to see them in their first days as parents. There is a lot of love for this sweet boy, and even his fur-brother doesn't seem to mind the shift in attention ;) Jaimie and Jill, I wish you many blessings as you enjoy life with Charlie!
Miss Audrey's newborn session kicked off my craziest week of sessions to date, and what a great start it was! This little lady was 2 weeks old at the time, and was so calm & alert for the first half of our session that we were able to capture some beautiful portraits of her with her eyes open. When she did fall asleep she was happiest hanging out in mom and dad's arms. Her parents, Patricia & Kevin, were wonderful and I loved shooting in their condo with the beautiful high ceilings and giant windows you can see below. Patricia & Kevin, I had such a wonderful time capturing the love between your new little family and wish you many blessings as sweet Audrey grows!
I had such a fun morning with this little family of three in their beautiful, bright home. They were super kind when I was 15 minutes late because I couldn't find their house (my dear friend Google Maps led me astray)! Matthew found me knocking on the door to the wrong house, where luckily no one was home! When I finally did arrive I met baby girl Kaya, who is only 6 months old and already sitting and crawling...she was always one the move! Her parents certainly have their hands full with this sweet little lady. The combo of giant windows and her gorgeous eyes gave us some beautiful images. Matthew and Vanessa were so full of love for their sweet and spunky daughter, and I just loved capturing these memories for this family.
I'm sure you haven't forgotten sweet little Micah from his Fresh 48 session a few posts back! I spent the morning with Colleen and Eric at home and loved getting to see how they've settled in with their baby boy at home. Micah was not into the idea of lying on the bed by himself for his portraits, so his parents kept him close and we ended up with some of my favourite snuggle shots to date! He even let us get some incredibly adorable shots of him sleeping with his little head resting in daddy's hand (scroll all the way to the bottom for that goodness)! He was not a fan of the diaper change, but I had to document it anyway, since one day he will appreciate that his parents didn't let him sit in his own poo ;) What a joy it was to photography this wonderufl family!
You have to check out this little redheaded beauty! Her name is Emily is she was simply a dream to photograph. She slept so well, and then pulled out the cutest, over-the-shoulder pose you can ever imagine, all on her own! You may remember her parents, Wes and Margaret from their maternity session back in the early spring. I so looked forward to getting to hang out with them again and meet their sweet little girl. Margaret only almost cried once, when Emily stretched her little hand out and rested it on her daddy's face, and baby Emily barely cried at all the entire time ;) I just love getting to capture a family's first days after that sudden change that throws you headfirst into parenthood. It's lovely, it's messy, exhausting and thrilling all at the same time. Wishing this special family many blessings.
It was a grey foggy morning when I pulled up to this family's home after a bit of a sketchy drive (because of the fog, not my driving skills!). But as you can see there was nothing grey or dreary going on once I walked through the door! I was greeted with so much warmth by Kassandra and Brent, as well as by the littlest cutie who was running around sans pants! Both boys totally ignored my camera which was a real treat, and we captured some beautiful, candid memories of them enjoying time together, with their parents and destroying a beautiful cheese board. There was also a very patient kitty thrown into the mix somewhere. It would be crime for me not to mention their gorgeous home...it was the perfect setting for an in-home family session and I will be stalking Kassandra's beautiful blog, Little DeKonings, for decor inspiration for many years to come! If anyone has any suggestions for how to convince my husband to redecorate our entire home, please send them my way ;)
Oh November. We have a bit of a love/hate relationship. Actually, it used to be just hate until Levi was born last November. But this year we saw our little man turn one. It’s hard to believe! Peter and I are enjoying discovering more about his little personality and it is pretty wild how quickly he is learning new things. We had a couple of dicey weeks with his molars coming in and I felt like I was going to lose my mind once or twice, but I am lucky to have the best mother-in-law who took Levi off my hands for a few afternoons so I could regroup (also my mom will want me to mention that she was off saving lives in Ghana otherwise she would have helped me too)! I think we have one more 1-year molar to go and then I’m keeping my fingers crossed that we’ll be done with teething for a while! Anyhow, I am marching along with the project and I think making it through this month was a victory. Hoping I can blaze through Christmas and then January and finish strong!
From the moment Nicole contacted me I knew I was going to love this family. So easygoing, flexible and fun, all ingredients for an enjoyable session! And the cherry on top? Peyton’s amazing hair and the fact that she was constantly yawning, which just might be the cutest thing a baby can do. She is clearly so loved by her big brother and parents. Nicole and Chase made two under two look effortless (don’t worry guys, I know its hard work!) and made me feel so welcome and comfortable in their home. I was honoured to capture these memories for them and hope that these photos will one day transport them back to that wild and beautiful time that they welcomed their baby girl.
